Join us as we take a closer look at the Leapmotor C10, the electric SUV making some serious noise in the affordable EV space.

The Leapmotor C10 recently arrived at Carparison HQ, and it made quite the impression.

This Chinese newcomer isn't trying to out-luxury the Germans or out-tech the Tesla crowd. Instead, it's doing something refreshingly straightforward: delivering a properly usable electric SUV without the faff.

Leapmotor's approach is beautifully simple – you get everything as standard.

One trim, one spec, everything included.

And 'everything' means a 263-mile range (WLTP Comb), noise-cancelling voice control (perfect for drowning out "are we nearly there yet?" while keeping work calls crystal clear), a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, and enough clever tech to make daily life genuinely easier.

Whether you're navigating school run chaos, heading to client meetings, or simply need a capable electric SUV that handles whatever life throws at it, the C10 promises to deliver without breaking the bank.

But can this affordable electric SUV genuinely handle the demands of both family life and professional use, or are there compromises hiding beneath the surface?

We took it for a spin to find out.

Clean lines that actually work

The Leapmotor C10 strikes a nice balance of being good-looking without being flashy.

Clean lines, well-proportioned, and a design that won't look dated in a few years. It's a handsome electric SUV at a handsome price point that's making waves in the electric vehicle (EV) SUV market.

Those 20-inch Trident alloy wheels and concealed door handles with NFC key functionality add a modern touch without feeling gimmicky. Animated LED tail lights bring a bit of personality, while the rear roof spoiler and shark fin antenna add a sporty edge.

Automatic LED headlights with daytime running lights, tinted glass (with rear privacy glass), and heated power-folding mirrors with position memory, all come as standard.

The panoramic glass sunroof with powered blind floods the cabin with natural light, and the powered tailgate makes loading easier – though the boot button can be tricky to spot, especially if you're on the taller side.

There's even a programmable button on the ceiling that you can set to do different things. Want all four windows to open simultaneously? One press, job done.

The 360° rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines and rear parking distance sensors make parking a breeze, even in tight spots.

There are five colour options, giving you more choice than its smaller sibling, the T03:

  • Pearly White (standard)
  • Glazed Green (£700 added to OTR)
  • Metallic Black (£700)
  • Tundra Grey (£700)
  • Canopy Grey (£700)

Overall? The C10 is a well-proportioned electric SUV that’ll look good on the driveway without trying too hard.

Step inside – Comfort without the complications

Open the door, and the C10 greets you with a minimalist yet intuitive cabin.

The driver's display sits neatly in the gap of the steering wheel, while the 14.6" central touchscreen shows you everything you need: no more hunting through complicated menus.

Heated and ventilated front seats wrapped in silicone OEKOTEX leather keep you comfortable year-round. Plus, the driver gets 6-way power adjustment, the front passenger gets 4-way power adjustment, and the multi-function heated steering wheel offers 4-way adjustment too.

In the back, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat with centre armrest and head restraints means passengers get proper comfort as a priority, not an afterthought.

DAB+FM radio with 12 speakers and online Amazon Music turn the cabin into a concert. The wireless phone charger, two USB ports, two USB-C ports, and a 12v power supply socket mean nobody's fighting over charging cables.

Dual-zone electric air conditioning with heat pump facility lets everyone pick their preferred temperature, while the high-efficiency composite filter with air quality sensor keeps the air fresh.

To round things up nicely, you’ve got:

  • Front and central console storage compartments
  • A lidded glovebox
  • Two front cup holders
  • Ambient interior lighting
  • Front and rear reading lights

Voice control with noise-cancelling microphones is the standout feature for us – perfect for keeping any calls crystal clear.

On the road with the Leapmotor C10

On the road – Smooth, capable, and surprisingly quiet

Behind the wheel, the Leapmotor C10 is a smooth operator.

It soaks up bumps with ease, making even rough roads feel more refined than you'd expect. The steering is on the loose side – similar to the T03 – but there's less road noise and a quieter motor, making longer journeys more comfortable.

With 218 HP max power output and 320 Nm peak torque, the C10 has enough punch to get you where you need to go. It's rear-wheel drive with an automatic gearbox, hitting 0-62 mph in 7.5 seconds with a top speed of 105 mph.

Four driving modes and three steering modes let you tailor the experience to your mood, while 3-level regenerative braking gives you control over how reactive the car is when you lift your foot off the accelerator.

The column-operated drive selector keeps things simple, and adaptive cruise control with intelligent speed assist makes motorway miles effortless. While lane centering control and traffic jam assist take the stress out of stop-start commutes.

An electronic parking brake with hill-start assist means no awkward rolling backwards on steep inclines, while multi-collision braking with override system adds an extra layer of safety.

It's not going to win any races, but for juggling school runs, client meetings, and weekend trips, the C10 handles it all, without the drama.

What makes it stand out?

Here's where the Leapmotor C10 really makes its case: value that's hard to ignore.

First off, you just need to look at the price:

  • £3,750 LEAP-GRANT saving brings the total OTR price down to £32,750
  • 0g/km CO2 emissions with 3% Benefit in Kind (BiK) rate – a no-brainer for company car drivers

Coming in way below the average price of an EV in the UK (between £48,000 and £50,873), it’s a genuine bargain.

Next up, we have warranties that give you peace of mind:

  • Four-year warranty
  • Four-year roadside assistance as standard
  • Eight-year battery warranty

Now safety and tech:

  • Comprehensive safety: six airbags including far side airbag, plus full suite of advanced driver assistance systems
  • Online navigation with OTA update function keeps maps current
  • You can choose how much detail the map gives you for directions
  • In-vehicle Wi-Fi with Appstore function
  • Voice control with noise-cancelling microphones – genuinely good for business calls

But the best bit?

Everything comes as standard. One trim, one spec.

Like the Leapmotor T03, there's no agonising over option packs or discovering the feature you wanted costs extra.

What you see is what you get.

And it’s a very attractive package.

Downsides?

Honestly? There aren't many major faults to pick at.

The driver assistance system does like to make itself heard – it beeps. A lot. Lane departure warnings, speed limit reminders, general alerts; it's all very keen to let you know it's working. You'll get used to it, but it can be a bit much at first.

Handling isn't the C10's strongest suit either.

The steering feels loose (similar to the T03), which means it's not the most engaging drive if you're after something sporty. But for everyday motoring, it does the job perfectly well.

And the efficiency? The 263-mile range (WLTP Comb) isn't groundbreaking, but it's perfectly adequate for most drivers' weekly routines.

Leapmotor has prioritised value over maximum range – and for daily commutes, school runs, and weekend trips, 263 miles does the job well.

These are minor niggles in the grand scheme of things.

The C10 knows exactly what it is: an affordable, practical electric SUV that doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

Leapmotor C10

So, what do we think of the Leapmotor C10?

What's the verdict?

The Leapmotor C10 delivers exactly what it promises – a properly usable electric SUV, without the premium price tag.

It's refreshingly honest about what it offers too:

  • Affordable electric motoring with a surprising amount of tech as standard
  • 263-mile range (WLTP Comb)
  • Everything included in one simple spec

No hidden costs, no surprise extras, no complicated option packs.

Yes, the driver assistance beeps a lot. Yes, the steering feels loose. And yes, the range isn't groundbreaking.

But for families juggling school runs and weekend trips, or businesses looking for an affordable company car in the lowest BiK bracket, the C10 delivers everything you need without breaking the bank.

For drivers seeking an affordable entry into electric SUV ownership without sacrificing space, safety, or practicality, this honest package makes a genuinely compelling case for itself.

Top five reasons to consider the Leapmotor C10:

  1. Exceptional value with everything included as standard
  2. Dual-purpose capability for both family life and professional use
  3. One trim, one spec – no confusing option packs or hidden costs
  4. Comprehensive safety and tech at an affordable price point
  5. 263-mile range (WLTP Comb) with eight-year battery warranty for peace of mind

Would we recommend leasing a Leapmotor C10?

Absolutely – especially if you want electric SUV practicality without the premium price tag.

It won't win any awards for driving dynamics or class-leading range, but for families and businesses seeking affordable, honest electric motoring with genuinely useful standard equipment, the C10 hits the mark perfectly.

The Leapmotor C10 look like your cuppa tea?
