Getting behind the wheel of your dream car has never been easier.

Ready to discover how refreshingly simple car leasing can be?

Let’s dive in.

 Check your credit rating

Check your credit rating

Step one: Check your credit score

Your credit rating is like your financial CV – the better it looks, the smoother your leasing journey will be.

But don’t panic if it’s not perfect. A less-than-stellar credit score won’t mean an automatic end to your leasing journey. It just means we might need to look at a different funder who’ll accept your application.

Quick credit score boosters:

  • Get yourself on the electoral roll at your current address (it’s free and takes minutes)
  • Make sure all your personal bills are paid on time
  • Build your credit history by getting a credit card or taking out a small form of credit (but make sure your utilisation stays as low as possible)
  • Check for errors and report any mistakes on your credit report

Remember, failed applications can hurt your credit score, so it’s worth checking where you stand before you apply.

Knowledge is power, after all.

plan your budget

Set your budget

Step two: Set your budget

Before you start dreaming about heated seats and panoramic sunroofs, let’s talk numbers.

How much can you comfortably afford each month without having to survive on beans on toast (without the cheese)?

At Carparison, we’re all about flexibility.

You can design your lease deal to fit your needs by selecting your initial rental (anywhere from one to nine months upfront) and your lease term (generally 24 to 48 months).

Both of these will affect your monthly payments, so there’s plenty of room to find something that fits your budget.

Pro tip: Be realistic about what you can afford. Your future self will thank you.

Work out what you need

Work out what you need

Step three: Work out what you need

This is where we separate your wants from your needs (although we’ll do our best to tick both boxes).

Got kids, dogs, or both? You’ll want something with boot space that doesn’t require a physics degree or a game of luggage Tetris to load.

Leasing a car for your business? It might make the most financial sense to opt for an electric car, with those low levels of Benefit in Kind (Bik) tax.

Are you clocking up serious miles with a lengthy commute? Fuel efficiency might be your new best friend.

Don’t forget about your annual mileage, which can range from 5,000 to 30,000 miles per year. Get this wrong and you could face excess mileage charges, so it’s worth being honest about how much driving you actually do.

Need some inspiration? Our leasing experts have seen it all and can help you nail down exactly what you need from your next car.

Choose your desired make and model

Choose your perfect match

Step four: Choose your perfect match

Here’s the fun bit – the bit you’ve been waiting for.

It’s time to pick your perfect car lease deal. Whether you’re eyeing up a practical family estate, or something with a bit more pizazz, we’ve got competitive deals on virtually every make and model you can think of.

Our current top choices:

Still feeling overwhelmed by choice?

That’s what our team of leasing experts are here for. They’ve got years of experience matching people with their perfect car, and they’re just a phone call (or an email) away.

Pick your colour, trim and additional extras

Make it yours

Step five: Make it yours

Now for the really exciting part…

Personalising your motor.

Unfortunately, this bit does only really apply if you’re opting for a factory order, where you can specify everything from the trim, to the exterior colour, to any optional packs that you’d like.

If you need a car quicker, you can opt for one of our in stock lease deals. You could be behind the wheel in under a month, but it is slightly less customisable

You might still be able to choose what colour you’d like your car to be, but our exclusive in stock deals are generally on one or two trim levels, with any extras baked in.

You could also consider adding a maintenance package for an additional monthly fee.

It’s like having a worry-free warranty that covers:

  • Scheduled services and MOTs
  • Tyre changes and replacements
  • Essential parts like batteries, exhausts, and wiper blades

It’s peace of mind on tap – and easier monthly budgeting for your car costs.

Begin your application

Get formal approval

Step six: Submit your application

Time to make it official.

It’s easy enough to submit your finance application online, once you’re happy with the quote and extras. You’ll just need to provide some basic details about yourself and your financial situation.

For personal applications, we’ll need:

  • The basics, including full name, email address, and marital status
  • At least three years of address history
  • Details of your financial status, including employment details and annual salary
  • Bank details (used to assess your affordability)

Business customers: You’ll also need to provide information about the company (including website, address, business sector and company registration number), and the bank details that the monthly payments will be taken from, as well as the details of at least one director or owner.

If you need any help along the way, our team will be on hand throughout the process.

Complete your formal offer form

Get formal approval

Step seven: Get your formal approval

Once you’ve submitted your application, it goes off to the organisation funding the deal you’ve chosen.

They’ll do a full credit check and assess your affordability based on the information you’ve provided and the cost of the lease. The funder will then let us know whether your application has been approved or declined.

This usually takes up to 24 working hours, and your leasing consultant will keep you in the loop.

If you get the green light to go ahead, you’ll then need to fill out a formal order form. When we get this form back, we can officially place your order, securing your car and the quoted price.

Trade your car in

Trade your car in

Step eight: What about your current car?

If you’ve got a car that’s taking up valuable driveway space – and you need to get it gone before your shiny new lease arrives – you can sell it online in as little as 24 hours.

We’ve partnered with Motorway to help you sell your car from the comfort of your sofa, with as little faff as possible.

Motorway’s valuation technology uses real-time data to market your car, and you don’t have to go anywhere. Your car can be collected from your home (or a specified location), and the money will be in your account within 24 hours.

It’s simple, easy, and frees up your drive for your new car.

Step nine: Take delivery

It’s finally the moment you’ve been waiting for – the day your new car arrives.

We can arrange delivery to your home or workplace, whichever suits you better. We won’t be able to give you an exact time that your car will arrive (although it’s generally between 8am and 6pm) but the delivery driver should phone you ahead of time on the day to let you know their ETA.

Delivery day checklist:

  • Give your car a thorough inspection with the delivery driver
  • Check for any damage or issues, and write them down on the delivery note
  • Take a photo of the odometer reading so you have timestamped proof of the delivery mileage
  • Get familiar with all the controls and features
  • Contact us if you have any delivery day questions or concerns
  • Enjoy your new car!

It’s worth noting that any unnoticed damage that’s not written down during the handover could become your responsibility later, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to check everything over properly.
